Daniel hält Strauße: Idylle mit Schlachtraum?



Der afrikanische Strauß — mit bis zu 2 Meter 80 der größte Laufvogel der Welt. Mittlerweile sind einige Tiere in der südlichen Oberpfalz zuhause. Auf der Straußenfarm Jura Strauß von Daniel Lebert. Mit 21 Jahren hat sich Daniel aus Kelheim den Traum einer eigenen Farm erfüllt. Auf zweieinhalb Hektar Fläche züchtet er die Vögel selbst heran und gibt Führungen. Aber seine Strauße sind Nutztiere. Alle 1 bis 2 Wochen muss er ein Tier schlachten, denn einen großen Teil seines Einkommens macht er durch Straußen-Fleisch.
Daniel hätte selbst nie gedacht, dass er mal Tiere schlachten würde. Eine Warnung vorab: Es wird Blut fließen — und ich, ich werde zum Henker.

Daniel Lebert ist Protagonist der vierten Folge von Überpfalz – dem Reportageformat der MZ auf YouTube. Daniel nimmt Reporter Leon Willner mit in seinen Arbeitsalltag als Straußenfarmer — vom morgendlichen Füttern bis zum Schlachten und Ausnehmen. Die Reportagen von Überpfalz zeigen Ostbayern anders als erwartet. Alle 14 Tage, immer mittwochs ab 16 Uhr eine neue Folge.
