В 2016 году, в рамках северной экспедиции \«По родному краю\», мы посещали самую северную в мире полярную магистраль, которую строили заключенные ГУЛАГа. В сердцах многих людей она запомнилась как \«мёртвая дорога\». Участники экспедиции посетили лагерный пункты \«Гривки\», Костер\", \«Буровая\», а также нашли подвижной состав вагоны и паровозы. В фильме рассказывается об исторических фактах строительства магистрали.
Данный фильм не имеет своей целью, дать какую либо оценку деятельности руководителей СССР.
Он лишь основан на материалах историко-географических экспедиций, в той мере, в которой дает общее представление о фактах и обстоятельствах послуживших началу и окончанию строительства трансполярной магистрали.
В фильме использованы материалы экспедиции 2016 года: «По родному краю».
